Yountville Veterans Home Event

The Guy Fieri Foundation honored the Veterans at the Yountville Veterans Home by putting on an appreciation luncheon with a day of giving back and paying our respect to all.

Located in the heart of scenic Napa Valley, the Veterans Home of California-Yountville (VHC-Yountville) is a community of and for veterans. Founded in 1884, now in its 137th year of operation, VHC-Yountville is the oldest and largest active veterans’ home in the United States. Nearly 650 aged and or disabled veterans (both men and women) from World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Desert Storm, and Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom eras live at the home.

The Home offers affordable long-term care to aged and disabled veterans as well as their eligible spouses and domestic partners. The Yountville Veterans Home offers services ranging from independent living programs with minimal support and Residential Care for the Elderly (RCFE) to 24/7 skilled nursing care for veterans with significant clinical needs including memory care. VHC-Yountville staff are uniquely capable of serving the needs of the veteran community and offering an environment that honors their service to the country. The Home is nationally recognized for its premier care and services provided to California’s veterans.

Residential accommodations provide a wealth of recreational, social, and therapeutic activities including a fitness center, bowling lanes, a resident operated television station, 35,000 volume library, creative arts center, gardening, picnic grounds and a multi-faith chapel for all residents.

Our team served 1,000 meals with the help of over 35 volunteers which also included close to 300 to-go meals for those residents that were unable to leave their rooms. It was important that they were included in this special day, so we made sure the staff was able to deliver to each resident. With each meal, we provided a custom t-shirt for each Veteran to let them know we respect and honor what they have done for our country!

Our Founder Guy Fieri, spent lots of time speaking with the Veterans and listening to their stories and taking pictures, all while leading the culinary team and volunteers to make sure everyone was taken care of.

The culinary team and volunteers did an excellent job from beginning to end feeding, appreciating, and honoring each and every Veteran that came through the line making them feel special and thanking them for their service. Our Foundation looks forward to making this an annual event, and making sure our Veterans are honored and respected!

Big thank you to all of our Partners and Sponsors including Freightliner, World Centric Packaging, Kings Hawaiian, Chef Domenica Catelli, Chef Crista Luedtke, Allan Henderson and American Asphalt, Mark Keyes and his team of CHP Volunteers, and all of our Volunteers that helped make this a success! We can’t do this without any of you!
